Here's the tour to Edinburgh, with many pictures:
The roundtrip through East Lothian
The start, through the old railway tunnel below Arthurs Seat in Edinburgh
Sea, or sky?
A power station next to the sea - the green colour doesn't seam to be too healthy...
Seton Collegiate Church - centuries ago there was a collegium praying in this nice church for the rich landowners
The church was modified several times - this roof is a proof
The friendly stuart told us lots about the place - thanks! And he cycled from Oxford to Edinburgh, in four days - many years ago, but that's a big distance for four days - compared to my 260km in three...
The nearby mansion
Gosford house, which was opened only eight times this summer for the public - we decided to come here a second time, perhaps...
The power plant in the far distance
Dirleton Castle - and its nice gardens
Luckily the pit didn't have a trap door!
Kitchens all over the place... and we were hungry!
The remaining bits of an old staircase
A chimney
A English Garten(?;)
Back in the 'wild' nature
Here we are in North Berwick - with the North Berwick Law in the background
Another very steep 'hill' - Bass Rock, where they installed a prison long time ago
We arrived at Tantallon Castle at 18.30 - just to see the guard coming back from locking the doors...
I had a quick view though -
and a longer one afterwards, luckily there was a nice scaffolding in front of the castle which allowed late visitors to enter the castle over to old way (I don't publish any pictures of this here, of course)
I didn't know where I should go - and decided to cycle back to Edinburgh, over Haddington
But had a look at North Berwick before - the promenade!
And the beach
The city prepared itself for some highland games
A church for urgent prayers - with direct access to heaven
Both rocks, seen from the way to East Linton
It cannot be really seen on this picture - but the way back was quite steep, several times...
Luckily the road went down sometimes too - as here, to East Linton!
Hails castle, and its modern view... it laid just on my way, and was open anytime and for everyone
Many criminals must have been in this area - or big injustice...
The former wine cellar ;)
And even more!
Together with me some ducks arrived in Haddington
St. Marys Church, the East Lothian 'cathedral' - build in the 14th century - and still very impressing!
Later I came back, now with some pices of pizza - to hear the fine accordion music, and to enjoy life...
A funny church at the other end of Haddington - with a small tower on the tower
The moon was very impressing that night - extremly 'big', and yellow
Back on the way home - 12 hours after we passed here the first time
The moon was also shining in Edinburgh!
I was back home exactly at 0.00 - but the batteries of my camera ran out of power, and it took my some minutes to find the other ones...
Good night!
