Hinnerk's journey to Great Britain

Here's the tour to Edinburgh, with many pictures:

Back to the Guestbook

From June 30th to July 2nd the Institute for Adaptive and Neural Computation was lucky enough to enjoy great days at Firbush, the University Centre for Sports and Excercise. Several water sports were offered there, like wind surfing, sailing, kayaking and canoeing; accompanied by mountain biking, hill walking - and they had some good trekking bikes too!

The weather was changing quite often, so everybody got totally wet at least once, I think - but in between the sun helped to have good fun, too. Have a look!

Our Minibus tour to Firbush (for a more detailed map of Loch Tay: have a look at the 'Tour around the loch')

A first view out of the window - it was raining at the beginning; just in the minutes, when we wanted to start the sport, the clouds were blown away, though

The corridor with the sleeping rooms

Loch Tay is surrounded by many hills and mountains...

Some first trials to have fun with the wind :)

And some of us went on a nice mountainbike trip - Mark took these pictures!

Up to the finish!

Back on land, after a nice sail trip

This and the following seven photos are from Andrea - she has some more too, very nice -
feel free to contact her!

Properly dressed for some action on the water!

Here you go - the professional windsurfer

And the beginners do get their sail straight, too

What a fun!

Paolo, before his heart attack in the evening - the Portugese really won that night again!!

Having a break in the common room

On a short visit to the nearby village Killin

Having a view over the wild river

Good dinner was ready!

The chess game between Mark and Rowland fascinated many others too

The blackboard with educational stuff could be pushed aside - and a magical room appeared...

With much fun afterwards too

Leaving Firbush at 5.00 am, to have a ride around the lake - come with me!

The common room was used frequently during this day too...

Busily planing the outing to the playground

Ok - instead we tried to walk on top of this mountain :)

On top it was cloudy, and raining sometimes - but the view was still worth the effort!

Once more sun and rain met each other!

And the night was waiting...

The view of our nice barkeeper

And his treasures

Not dirty, but modern dancing - according to the commands of a laptop

And a last basketball game in the next morning...

For this eventuality there was always a bar laying nearby the harbour...

A last view over the loch... ;(

And in the bus to Edinburgh again

Reading...

... enjoying the countryside ...

... and taking a nap.

My first encounter with the Forth Bridges - worth a see!
